Since the subjects in this blog are coming from my crazy, sometimes borderline inappropriate mind, I feel like I should warn you that some of the content might be uncomfortably honest and disheveled. Hence the blog title I chose.
There will be no nail-art tutorials, DIY bins made out of tires, instructions on how to carve a desk from a tree outside your window, or magical smoothie recipes made with organic free-range lavender. I’m sorry, but if you’re an early ’80s baby like I am, you think oil pulling happens at car repair shops and kale crackers are “interesting.” You also have a secret desire for coca-cola, doughnuts and ditching the latest fads in an effort to preserve who you really are.
So let’s do this. Here are some of my favorite blogs and websites that exemplify the kind of material you’ll be getting here: inspirational material that is soothing, helpful and somewhat original. Off we go.
#1: Half-Baked Harvest – This blog features a mix of healthy and unhealthy recipes that are semi-simple, unique, insanely delicious and beautifully photographed. You can really tell that this adorable author believes in the power of comfort food. Sold! Below you’ll find a drool-inducing picture of my favorite recipe, her Quinoa Caprese Bake.
#2: Visual Optimism – If fashion editorials are like adrenaline surges for you too, you’ll enjoy this blog’s ongoing collection of fashion spreads from both usual magazines and more obscure publications.
#3: Domaine – With photos of gorgeous abodes, shop-the-look furniture stories and crazy before-and-after displays, this home site (from the founders of WhoWhatWear) gives me enough inspiration to think that I can actually design. I’m still learning.
#4: Ann Street Studio – And finally, there is this site, which follows a renowned husband-and-wife photography team on their stylish city journeys. Each and every photo is chillingly beautiful and a tad surreal.
